Dr. Jeanette Carpenter was born in New York City and raised in Chesterfield County, VA. She graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry and a minor in Dance. In 2004 she earned her Medical Doctorate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia and then went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine from VCU’s Chesterfield Family Practice Residency Program, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Carpenter is Board Certified in Family Practice with specialized training in Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prior to joining our practice she worked for 5 years at Chippenham Hospital where she practiced in a busy full spectrum OB/Gyn practice delivering babies and performing multiple GYN procedures. At Family Practice Associates she performs annual exams, Pap smears, Colposcopy, Implanons, IUDs and GYN biopsies in addition to numerous primary care procedures. She also has a special interest in preventative medicine and holistic medicine and is currently pursuing a certification in plant based nutrition.
Dr. Carpenter is fluent in Spanish and enjoys travelling abroad to Spanish speaking countries. Dr. Carpenter has also been involved in teaching family medicine residents, medical students, and nurse practitioners. She has served as an OB/GYN and Family Practice Attending Physician for Chesterfield Family Practice Residency Program for the last five years. Dr. Carpenter earned an outstanding teaching award through her work as an Assistant Clinical Professor at VCU/MCV School of Medicine.
Dr. Carpenter is married to Dr. Michael Carpenter, DPT. Michael is a physical therapist and manager of outpatient therapy at Johnston Willis. They have 2 daughters and a dog and they enjoy travelling and running in races around the Richmond area.
